Binding sound, light foxing to endpapers, a few scatterd notations and underlines in French. Text is in the French language. A novel centering around a village miser, Felix Eugenie, his obsession with gain at all costs, and the effect of his miserliness on his wife, his daughter Eugenie, his family and fellow villagers. Set in early nineteenth century Napoleonic France in a town called Saumur. Appended at the end of the text are 12 pgs of advertisements for other titles by Nelson Editeurs. #2275.
