Decorated Boards
Good +

W.J. Linton, David Scott, William Blake, Isaac Taylor, Harley, Jervis McEntee

Unpaginated. An unusual pair of Good+ condition Victorian era poetry gift books, cloth hardcovers with gilt title decorations and pictorial designs on front boards and decorated endpapers. Scattered light foxing and smudging internally, and moderate rubbing to corners of both books. "Among the Trees" is in a bit rougher condition, with more external wear and interior and exterior soiling and spotting than "Thanatopsis". Owner name on front endpaper of "Among the Trees", spine cloth rubbed bare in spots along front gutter with scattered but faint dampstaining along some interior margins. Bindings of both books intact but shaken in a few places, hinges not cracked and underlying mesh holding well. Verse and engravings appear on each recto of both books. Beautifully executed illustrations designed and engraved by W.J. Linton and Harley after the artwork of William Blake, David Scott, Isaac Taylor and Jervis McEntee. #2318.
