Backing of spine is chipped away at top edge and partially along front side to reveal sewn page gathers underneath. Gathered pages remain tightly sewn, but upper thread is not connected to boards. Boards remain firmly affixed otherwise. Owner name on front endpaper in vintage fountain pen. Some smudging and light foxing to endpapers, blanks, title page and frontis. Frontis portrait engraving of a Persian king.
