Wainwright, Jr. and with thirty-two illustrations from photographs (many from the Museum of Natural History). Color frontis, tissue intact, of a mother owl with her babies perched on a moonlit branch. Light external shelf wear to cloth with faint watermark on back extending about one inch along bottom edge of back board. Internally, there is a corresponding tide line and faint waviness at the bottom right corner of the last 75 pages, text is not obscured. Bookplate on front endpaper, with a gift inscription "an old bird to a young bird Christmas 1919".
